NPD revealed, January US game sales list, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ game won championship
NPD research organization today declared the January US game sales list, data show that in January, American consumers spent US$4.71 billion on games, an increase of 42% year-on-year.
Among them, game hardware sales reached 319 million US dollars, an increase of 144%, thanks to the fire of PS5, Xbox, Switch, and other game consoles. Last month, the Switch sold the most in the United States, and the PS5 had the highest sales.
Both figures exceeded the Wii console data in 2009 and 2010. By looking at the game content, the total consumption of game consoles, mobile terminals, and PCs reached US$4.17 billion, a year-on-year increase of 36%.
The newly launched ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ won the sales championship, ‘Assassin’s Creed: Hall of Valor’ranked second, and Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ won third place.
Three games on Nintendo Switch occupy 5-7 places in the rankings, namely ‘Animal Crossing Friends’, ‘Mario Kart 8’, and ‘Fitness Ring Adventure’.The sales of ‘Cyberpunk 2077‘ dropped significantly from second place in December and currently ranks 18th. Additionally, NPD also declared the game sales rankings for Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms in January 2021.
