A new Android version will be unveiled, as expected, as Google abandoned Android’s dessert naming plan two years ago, this year’s version will be named Android 12.
Even though Android 12 will not officially announce a dessert name, this does not mean that Google fully abandons the tradition of naming the Android operating system ‘dessert’.
As per the report, last year’s Android 11 (Android R) was called ‘Red Velvet Cake’ internally, and this year’s Android 12 (Android S) should be called ‘snow cone (shaved ice)’.
It is reported, when Google announces the Android 12 source code later this year, developers may notice that many development branches start with ‘sc’. This is the abbreviation of Snow Cone, just like the development branch of Android 11 starts with ‘rvc’.
