Xiaomi Mi Watch getting new update with Amazon Alexa support

Back in 2020, Xiaomi announced Mi Watch together with the Mi 10T series. Basically, this smart watch is the rebranding of the Mi Watch Color Sports Edition. At the same time, the Mi Watch is receiving firmware updates.

The new update brings some interesting and essential features. It continuously improves and fixes user feedback to improve user experience.

In addition, according to the official changelog, this new update adds Amazon Alexa voice assistant support. Unfortunately, it is only available in some regions, and the change log does not mention them. Therefore, you will have to check whether your smartwatch supports it.

Moreover, the new firmware brings camera shutter control and two new standby dials. However, it is worth noting that the camera shutter function mentioned in the changelog is experimental, so there may be problems on some smartphones.

The latest update also adds an option to turn on and off the automatic pause function in exercise mode, and also provides error repair and optimization functions to wake you up faster.

Updated Software Version:

The latest update for the Mi watch can be identified via the updated version v1.2.52.

Updated Changelog:

New features and improvements:

  • Amazon Alexa (not available in all regions).
  • Experimental feature to control your phone’s camera shutter from your watch.
  • Two new standby watch faces.

Optimizations:

  • Wake up your watch faster
  • Option to turn on and off auto-pause in a workout on your watch.
  • Fixed known bugs

How to update:

You can update to the latest version of the Xiaomi Wear app available on the Google Play Store, open the application, and tap on ‘Update’ when prompted.

Note: If you haven’t received the update yet then it could be possible that it is being rolled out in batches. But as soon as it’s available, there should be an automatic prompt on the Xiaomi Wear app to install the same.
