The VLC player will release in a major update, bringing a new and more modern VLC 4.0 user interface. Unfortunately, the currently leaked Linux version is not pretty.
It does look more modern, but it seems to be trying a simplistic approach similar to iOS.. ArsTechnica grabbed the nightly build version of VLC 4.0, including the new UI. Let me talk about the good news first:
But the bad news is that VLC is starting to try a file system similar to iOS.
Users can also try to use Iona as an alternative to the VLC player. It has a very clean design. You can click the gear icon to open a side panel, and you can immediately access a lot of adjustment options.
Including brightness, contrast, and saturation, adjust playback speed, fix audio synchronization issues, rotate vertical video, and so on.
