Nokia wins core contract and 5G radio access network with A1 Austria

Nokia has won a multi-year contract to give a 5G radio access network and core network services to A1 Austria that seeks to enhance the capacity and connectivity of consumers and corporate customers.

In a statement, the supplier stated that it will use base stations and wireless access products in the AirScale product portfolio to provide ‘full 5G coverage’ throughout Austria.

The deployment of these products is in progress, and the core network components are planned to be deployed in the first half of this year.

A1 Austria plans to deploy commercial 4G and 5G network slicing to connect devices with services running in public and private clouds.

A1 Austrian chief executive Marcus Grausam (Marcus Grausam) stated that the operator ‘does not hesitate to continue working with Nokia to realize the full potential of 5G technology’, and its goal is to ensure that Australia’sGood Connection’ has entered the digital age.

Nokia and A1 Austria have cooperated on many projects, including 3G and 4G expansion, as well as the deployment of LTE and 5G campus networks in the country.
