Huawei’s executive director and operator BG president Ryan Ding announced that Huawei has undertaken more than half of the 140 commercial 5G networks in 59 countries or regions around the world, although some countries prohibit utilize its network equipment.
At the pre-communication meeting of Mobile World Congress Shanghai Station in 2021, Ding Yun stated that ‘5G’s development speed has exceeded our expectations, and the ecosystem is also maturing’, adding that the technology is no longer just for early adopters, and prepare, it is improving our daily lives.
He said that more than 68% of smartphones sold in China in 2020 are 5G compatible. Ding Yun is optimistic about the industry application prospects this year, pointing out that the popularization of 5G has made Chinese coal mines, steelmaking, and production industries ‘safer, smarter, and more efficient.’
The large-scale commercial use of 5G in various industries in 2021 will require operators to develop new capabilities in network planning, deployment, maintenance, optimization, and operation.
Ritchie Peng, president of Huawei’s 5G product line, stated that the total number of 5G users worldwide has reached 200 million, and more than 800,000 5G sites have been deployed. The cost of 5G mobile phones has been as low as $350.
