LNG dual-fuel + battery hybrid vehicle carriers world’s first Ship
In March 2019, China Shipbuilding Trading Corporation and Jiangnan Shipbuilding, and Norwegian shipowner UECC signed a contract for the construction of 3 3600-vehicle LNG dual-fuel + battery hybrid vehicle carriers.
This is the time when Jiangnan Shipbuilding Return to the PCTC construction market after 30 years. On January 8, 2020, Jiangnan Shipbuilding held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 3,600-car Car Carrier (PCTC) built by UECC in Norway.
Recently, the first ship of the 3,600-car Car Carrier (PCTC) series will be fully connected. According to the planned node, it will be launched on April 12. Along with this, the construction of 3 series ships is progressing steadily.
This is the world’s first LNG Powered Battery Hybrid Solution PCTC, with a total length of 169.10 meters and a width of 28.00 meters. It utilizes fuel and natural gas dual fuel power to meet IMO requirements. Tier 3 NOx emission limit.
In addition, the ship is equipped with controllable pitch propellers, shaft generators, battery systems, and the most advanced ship energy management system, and reserves the high-voltage shore power AMP system.
The natural gas capacity of the ship can meet the needs of the entire voyage, the ship can truly achieve ultra-low emissions under normal navigation, entry and exit, and loading and unloading.
This ship was designed by the Shanghai Ship Design Institute (SDARI), flies the Norwegian flag, and is classified into the DNV GL classification society. After delivery, it will be put into operation on European regional routes. It is a world-class, technologically advanced, efficient, green, and environmentally friendly ship.
Officials stated that during the construction of the ship, Jiangnan Shipbuilding completed the liquid filling and hoisting position in 1 hour, the main engine hoisting and hooking in 1.5 hours, the cable lighting in 2 hours, and the rudder propeller hoisting installation in 24 hours.
In response to the customers’ demanding requirements for the rudder blade line, they finished the production and delivery of the rudder blade within 30 days, completed the painting within 5 days, and achieved boring and matching in 7 days. Only 35 total sections and large equipment were completed within 9 days of the Spring Festival holiday.
