NASA released a video of Perseverance landing on Mars

NASA released a landing video taken by the Perseverance landing module and the Mars rover, recreating the famous ‘Seven Minutes of Terror’ lending process from the first perspective.

The first video of the probe landing on Mars. The landing process of the Perseverance rover is like this: After slowing down in the atmosphere, the heat shield is dropped and the parachute is deployed.

Below the heat shields are many cameras and other instruments that scan the terrain to find a suitable landing site. After falling to a certain altitude and speed, the parachute separated, the ‘jetpack’ started to take over and used the rocket to maneuver to the landing zone.

At a distance of about 70 feet (about 21 meters) from the Martian ground, the “air crane” lifted the rover from the lander, gently released it to the ground, and then the “jetpack” separated and crashed within a safe distance

The entire lending process takes about 7 minutes, of which the last few seconds are particularly dangerous. Although the Mars rover that landed before has sent back a large number of images and data, this is the first time that the landing video has been recorded.

Mike Watkins, head of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), said at a press conference: ‘This is the first time we have captured the scene of a probe landing on Mars.

These videos are really very impressive. Great, we will learn a lot by watching the performance of the rover in these videos, but more for you to embark on our journey.

Matt Wallace, deputy project manager of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Perseverance, stated: ‘I don’t know what you think, but in my career, it’s unlikely to drive a spacecraft to the surface of Mars.

But when When you see these images and videos, I think you will personally experience the successful landing of Perseverance.’
