Google’s Chrome will utilize desktop mode by default on large Android tablets

Google Chrome browser is trying a new feature that will automatically open web pages in desktop mode on Android tablets with large screens.

This feature fundamentally eliminates the requirement for users to manually check the ‘desktop site’ option in the browser and gives users a more simplified overall experience.

According to the instructions in Chromium Gerrit, this feature will allow Google Chrome to automatically request the desktop version of the website when it detects that the device’s display space is large enough.

It is not yet certain what the size of the judgment is, but it is supposed to be based on the resolution/DPI of the tablet. This feature is still in the early stages of development, and it is uncertain when it will appear in the stable version of Chrome.

Additionally to this feature, Google Chrome also supports tab width in the new tab scrolling feature that is currently available on Chrome 90 of the Canary channel.
