AMD EPYC 7763 64-core Zen3 architecture processor running score leaked, uses a dual CPU configuration

Posted on

AMD declared the EPYC Xiaolong processor with Zen3 architecture during CES 2021, but the product has not been officially launched. This series of CPUs has a maximum of 64 cores and 128 threads.

The IPC is significantly improved over the previous generation, and the single-core performance has also been greatly improved.  the running scores of this series of EPYC 7763 processors appeared on Geekbench 5, but the results were not satisfactory.

The processor works with Gigabyte server motherboards, adopts a dual CPU configuration, and has a total of 128GB of memory. This CPU has a base frequency of 2.45GHz, an acceleration frequency of up to 3.5GHz, a TPD of 280W, and a total of 256MB of L3 cache.

The running score displays that the EPYC 7763 dual-channel platform multi-core score is only 20,352 points, which is far less than the 33348 points of the previously leaked EPYC 7643 48-core processor, and it is also inferior to the Intel Xeon W-3175X 28-core processor. The running is divided into 21662 points.

There are many reasons for the low score of EPYC 7763 this time. It is supposed that the processor power or frequency is artificially limited, or there is a problem with the power supply or the radiator. It is also possible that the tester deliberately limits the results in order to avoid leaking product information in advance.

The EPYC 7543 32-core processor’s running score has also been leaked before. This product also utilizes the Zen3 architecture. Geekbench 5 single-core score of 1343 points, the multi-core score of 25909 points, and supports AVX-512 instruction set.

The most striking thing about EPYC 7543 is that its single-core performance is much higher than Intel Xeon Gold 6246R that changes the original image of the AMD CPU with weak single-core performance.
