World’s first ARM-based supercomputer Fuyake launched

Japanese Institute of Physics and Chemistry has officially released the supercomputer ‘Fuyake’ today to replace the original ‘Kyo’ supercomputer.

The ‘Fuyake’ supercomputer is the world’s first TOP500 high-performance computing cluster equipped with an ARM-based processor. It has a certified computing power of more than 5.13 billion times per second .

It is on the TOP500 list in June and November 2020. In the list, the ‘Fuyake’ supercomputer ranks first in the world.

In addition to maintenance and inspections in the future, ‘Fuyake’ will operate uninterruptedly, with a computing power of 4.420 trillion times per second for calculations in fields like weather and energy issues. It has been finalized for use in more than 100 research projects.
