Samsung 980 SSD officially launched, starting at 999 yuan

Samsung launched the 980 SSD that was officially released today, priced at 999 yuan (153.41 USD) for 1TB. the 980 is Samsung’s first DRAM-Less solid-state drive, using host memory buffer technology that can directly link the SSD to the host processor’s cache.

This technology, combined with Samsung Electronics’ sixth-generation V-NAND technology and optimized controller and software, enables the 980 SSD to give sequential read and write speeds of up to 3,500MB/s and 3,000MB/s, and random read and write performance Up to 500K and 480K.

Samsung stated that the newly upgraded intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 technology provides a more significant sustained performance than the 970EVO by allocating a larger buffer storage area inside the drive.

For users who use large files or run high-definition games, the new ‘full power mode’ in the 6.3 version of the Samsung Magician management software enables the solid-state drive to run continuously with high performance to achieve uninterrupted work and entertainment.

In addition, because of its advanced heat dissipation design, consumers do not require to worry about overheating solid-state drives. With the dynamic heat dissipation protection technology, nickel-plated controller, and radiator label solutions provided by Samsung 980 series solid-state hard drives, users can enjoy the stable and reliable performance even if they are used for a long time.

Compared with the previous 970 EVO solid-state drive, this solid-state drive also provides up to 56% improvement in power efficiency, allowing notebook computer users to better manage power usage. By looking at the cost, Samsung 980 250GB is priced at 339 yuan, 500GB is priced at 519 yuan, and 1TB is priced at 999 yuan.
