MediaTek will release its first 5 nm chip, put into production in fourth quarter of this year

As per the report, MediaTek will launch the first 5 nm process chip that will be put into production in the fourth quarter of this year.

In January this year, MediaTek released Dimensity 1200/1100 chips, all using TSMC 6nm process, Dimensity 1200 uses 1 Cortex-A78 large core 3.0GHz, 3 Cortex-A78 2.6GHz, 4 Cortex -A55 2.0GHz core, performance increased by 22%, energy efficiency enhanced by 25%.

The GPU scale has not changed much, and the performance has increased by up to 13%. Dimensity 1200 GPU supports Boosted overclocking, Dimensity 1100 chip utilizes 4 A78 2.6GHz cores, 4 A55 2.0GHz cores, GPU utilizes ARM G77 MC9 and supports dual-channel UFS 3.1.

Earlier, the ‘Electronic Times’ reported that MediaTek’s revenue soared to 10 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 30.8%. Along with this, MediaTek insiders said that it will enter other chip segments, like automotive chips.
