According to Barclays analyst Andrew Gardner and three of his colleagues, the iPhone 13 series models scheduled to be launched later this year are ‘probably’ A fingerprint scanner is embedded under the display for identity verification, and there is also a Face ID.
In a research report shared today, the analyst added that the iPhone 13 series models will use smaller bangs, while the LiDAR lidar scanner will still be limited to the iPhone 13 Pro series models this year.
This is in line with a well-known analysis. Teacher Guo Mingchi shared the same information earlier this month. Barclays analysts said their research is based at least in part on ‘extensive industry conversations’ with suppliers in recent weeks.
The analyst believes that the smaller gap on the iPhone 13 series models will be the result of Face ID ‘closer integration of the current structured light system version’, and added that “greater transformation” is possible Will appear in 2022, and Apple clearly aims to adopt a time-of-flight structure for Face ID that will allow for a ‘smaller footprint.’
This is consistent with Guo Mingchi’s prediction that at least some of the 2022 iPhones may use a perforated display, and only a small hole can be seen on the screen.
The following is an excerpt from the research report, with emphasis added.
The return of Touch ID and fingerprint recognition under the display has been reported many times. As early as August 2019, Guo Mingchi stated that Apple plans to release an iPhone with both Face ID and fingerprint recognition under the display in 2021, but he did not mention this feature in a research report earlier this month. Will appear on iPhone 13 series models.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gulman and Joanna Stern of The Wall Street Journal also claimed that Apple is at least testing an under-display fingerprint scanner for the iPhone 13 model, so time will tell whether this feature can be selected.
