Microsoft Edge browser launch cycle shortened to 4 weeks
Google declared that it would shorten the Chrome browser release cycle from 6 weeks to 4 weeks. Microsoft also declared today that it will adjust the release cycle of its Edge browser to match the rhythm of Google.
Microsoft said on Friday, ‘As a contributor to the Chromium project, we are looking forward to a four-week release cycle. Google declared that it will give help to give innovation to our users faster.’
Microsoft Edge’s release cycle change will take effect in September 2021, starting with the Edge 94 version. Along with this Google previously stated that it would also change the release cycle of Chrome 94 in the third quarter of 2021, but did not give a specific date like Microsoft.
The current Chromium kernel Edge browser has come to the official version of 89, which brings functions such as vertical tabs, favorites/historical search, and so on. Microsoft also said that it provides enterprise customers with a longer Edge browser release cycle option that can be extended to 8 weeks.
