Due to the tight production capacity of chip foundry companies that cannot meet the strong demand for foundry, the supply of chips in many fields such as automobiles and smartphone processors is relatively tight, and the scope of influence is still expanding.

The supply of LCD panel display driver chips is currently unable to keep up with demand, and manufacturers are considering increasing prices. According to the latest reports from foreign media, not only is the supply of display driver chips for LCD panels tight, but similar problems have also appeared in OLED panels, and Samsung’s rigid OLED panels have been affected.

The English media quoted information disclosed by industry chain sources, reporting that Samsung’s rigid OLED panels are facing display driver chip supply problems. Sources in this industry chain stated that due to the tight supply of display driver chips, Samsung has increased the price of rigid OLED panels.

Samsung has increased the price of rigid OLED panels by 5%-8%. The English media also mentioned in the report that Samsung’s tight supply of display driver chips is related to the suspension of production at their chip factory in Austin.

In mid-February, due to the large-scale blackout caused by the winter storm, Samsung and many other companies stopped production at their chip factories in Austin, and Samsung’s factories have not yet recovered. Before the shutdown, the factory could produce 20,000 wafers of display driver chips per month.
