According to NASA, the agency will conduct the second ignition of the FireWire core stage of the SLS space launch system at the Stanislas Space Center in Mississippi at 3:00 Beijing time on March 19th.
On January 17, NASA conducted an ignition test of the core stage of the SLS ‘Artemis’ rocket that was the first test of the ‘Green Run’. The original intention was to let the four rocket engines of the SLS core stage burn for about 8 minutes, but only more than a minute after the start of the test, the No. 4 engine malfunctioned and a flash appeared, and the test was terminated.
This test is the second time, and it was delayed many times before deciding to hold it on March 18, local time. Before the test, engineers will energize the SLS rocket core system and load 2,650 cubic meters of cryogenic fuel into the storage tank.
The test will start four RS-25 rocket engines at the same time, with a thrust of up to 726 tons. NASA will begin live broadcast half an hour before the test begins. This test is to ensure that the ‘Artemis 1’ rocket mission to the moon can proceed smoothly.
