Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 may use outdated AMD processors

As per the news, Microsoft plans to release the Surface Laptop 4 sometime in April that will use Intel’s 11th-generation Tiger Lake processors. Like its predecessors, the Surface Laptop 4 will also be available in an AMD version.

But may use outdated AMD processors, a new running score for the AMD version of Surface Laptop 4 has been found on the Internet. The UserBenchmark running score list mentions “Oemgr Product Name DV”, which is the same code name used by Microsoft for the previous generation Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, Surface Pro X and Surface Go 2 The code names are similar.

The UserBenchmark list shows that the device uses “AMD Ryzen 7 Microsoft Surface Edition” and the integrated “RX Vega 8 4000”, which is the graphics card used by the old Ryzen 4000 CPU.

In short, the chip used on Surface Laptop 4 should be an eight-core Ryzen 7 4800U, and the running score also shows that the machine is equipped with 16GB RAM. The AMD processor in Surface Laptop 4 is similar to the previous product, but because Microsoft and AMD have adopted higher clock speeds and optimizations, the performance will be better.

Microsoft seems to be testing Ryzen 5 4680U and Ryzen 7 4980U CPUs for Surface Laptop 4. On the other hand, it is said that the Intel processor version will be equipped with Core i5-1145G7 and Core i7-1185G7, equipped with Iris Xe graphics. The design of Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 will be the same as the previous generation Surface Laptop, with the same display and keyboard design, and the price should be the same.
