Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite became first mass-produced 5G smartphone with magnesium alloy body

At the spring conference, Xiaomi presented a number of new smartphones, among which the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite (or Xiaomi Mi 11 Youth Edition in China) became the lightest and thinnest Xiaomi mobile phone in history, with a body thickness of only 6.81 mm and a weight of 159 g.

The body for this smartphone is supplied by BYD Electronics, which for the first time used a magnesium alloy instead of the traditional aluminum alloy. It is worth noting that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite was the first mass-produced 5G smartphone with a magnesium alloy body.

The advantages of magnesium alloy are low density, high strength, higher shock load than aluminum alloy, and excellent heat dissipation. In addition, magnesium alloys have certain anti-corrosion properties and are used in aviation, aerospace, chemical, and other industries.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite received a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen, while the width of the bottom bezel is only 2.75 mm, while the other three bezels are 1.88 mm wide. Such a thin and light body houses a 4250 mAh battery with support for 33 W fast charging.

It also became the first device in the world to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G SoC. This platform is manufactured using a 5nm manufacturing process and has an Adreno 642 GPU.
