Oppo working on new sleep assist features, reveals a new patent
Oppo recently published a patent for “Sleep Training Method and Related Equipment”, with the publication number CN108404275B. According to the patent abstract of the company, this application is applied to electronic devices, including brain wave sensors, controllers, and transmitters.
The brain wave sensors are used to collect the user’s brain waves when it is determined that the user is about to fall asleep, the controller is used for brain-based The electric wave analyzes whether the user’s brain is in an active state, the transmitter is used to send out asleep training signal when the user’s brain is in an active state, and the sleep training signal is used to help the user enter the sleep state.
The patent is very mind-blowing, but it can be seen from the published patent application that this technology has sufficient scientific principles. OPPO said that many users are accustomed to playing mobile phones before going to bed, or even playing exciting games, which will cause users to still be immersed in the game scene during the process of falling asleep, leading to excessive brain activity and affecting sleep quality.

The brain wave sensor described is detachable and installed on the back cover of the mobile phone. The sensor and the mobile phone can communicate with the mobile phone in a wired or wireless manner. The brain wave sensor includes an electrode array and a signal processing module .
The electronic array is embedded in the scalp to capture the electrical signals of neurons. The structure of the electrode part is a needle-like array. The signal processing circuit part may include an instrumentation amplifier, a low-pass filter circuit, a High-pass filter circuit, an analog-to-digital A/D conversion circuit an interface circuit, etc.
Among them, the instrumentation amplifier is used to amplify the collected brain waves, the low-pass filter circuit and the high-pass filter circuit are used to filter out the noise in the collected brain waves, and only the frequency band of the brain wave frequency band (for example 1 to 30 Hz) is reserved. The digital A/D conversion circuit is used to convert the filtered brain waves into digital signals, and the interface circuit is used to transmit digital signals to other devices.
The device combines the light sensor of the mobile phone to determine whether the user wants to sleep. Once it detects that the user’s brain is active before going to bed, the device’s transmitter will send out sleep training signals, including soothing light music or electromagnetic waves.
Although the Oppo patent details the method of obtaining brain waves, the introduction of related electromagnetic waves and music used to assist sleep is more general. Therefore, whether this invention can be practically applied, the effect of the application is still unknown.
