Telegram X’s first update in nearly a year is loaded with new emoji, improved dark mode support, and more

Using an application that is billed as “experimental” comes with its legal risks, with developers likely to abandon the project altogether. Telegram X, the company’s alternative client to test new features, looks set to lead to a silent death after the latest update in May, but the app has finally shown a new spark to life.

After a year of silence, a new beta version of Telegram X is available for download, which includes several bug fixes and some key features that will help keep the app up to date.

After a year without updates, the changelog of this beta is quite large. With this new patch, Telegram X supports last year’s collection of emojis and theme integration with your phone’s dark mode settings.

Other important changes include statistics on group chats, a new menu to tag the user in the chat, and support for sending files up to 2GB in size. Telegram also breaks down some persistent bugs, such as .flac files, which can cause crashes and issues when displaying admin lists in chat.

To receive this update on your phone, you need to confirm that you have signed up for the TelegramX beta program. Alternatively, you can get this new beta version from the APK Mirror, where you will find the full list of patch notes with its reputation.
