On April 2, 2021, the administration of the social network Twitter received two large fines at once in Russia. The magistrate of the Tagansky district of Moscow, fined Twitter 3.2 and 3.3 million rubles, respectively.

Since there were two offenses – on January 23 and 24, two fines were imposed. The first administrative fine in the amount of 3 million 200 thousand rubles was imposed after the Twitter team was found guilty of not deleting content on the social network urging teenagers to go to unauthorized protests. The second fine for 3 million 300 thousand rubles was imposed for the same reason.
In early March, Roskomnadzor announced the first measure to “protect Russian citizens from the influence of illegal content” – access to Twitter was slowed down. The deceleration was implemented on 100% of mobile devices and 50% of stationary devices.
As Roskomnadzor noted then, as of March 10, 2021, 3168 materials with prohibited information remained on Twitter, including 2569 with calls to commit suicide by minors, 450 with child pornography, 149 with information about drug use.
