The Apple Silicon native version of the video editing software Adobe Premiere Pro has now entered the public beta stage. Following the release of the limited beta version in December 2020, the native version of the Apple Silicon M1 of Adobe Premiere Pro has entered the public testing phase.
“Because Premiere Pro is built on a huge code base that supports multiple media and workflows,” Adobe announced in its blog, “We will implement native support for Apple M1 in phases because some parts have not yet been ported.”
“This phased approach allows us to verify the performance and functionality of specific parts of the application before adding new components, and this allows you to start seeing the benefits now.”
Adobe said, “In the general editing process, you may see very little difference from the Intel version.” However, there is no M1 version for components including After Effects.

“The first public beta includes all the core editing features and workflows, such as color, graphics, and audio, as well as features like the Productions panel and multi-camera,” Adobe said. “We give priority to supporting the most widely used codecs, such as H.264, HEVC, and ProRes.”
Adobe is steadily updating its applications to the Apple Silicon system and usually adopts the same upgrade method. Adobe Lightroom fully supports M1 in December 2020, but there are also slower exceptions. For example, Photoshop for Apple Silicon only started the testing process in early March 2021.
