According to the latest reports, the leaked information includes the user’s mobile phone number, name, location, date of birth, email address, etc. In this regard, Facebook responded today that the reported data breach is related to data theft, rather than being hacked into the system.
Facebook stated that in 2019 because a function was misused, information was leaked, which may affect about 530 million users, after the problem was discovered, Facebook blocked the vulnerability as soon as possible.

According to Facebook’s explanation, before September 2019, malicious saboteurs used vulnerabilities in Facebook’s contact synchronization tool to steal data. The company then discovered the vulnerability and repaired it. Facebook emphasized in the blog post that after taking action, it believes that theft will no longer exist.
