Tesla presented on the Canadian market with latest version of electric car Tesla Model 3

Tesla has presented on the Canadian market a new version of its hit electric car Tesla Model 3. Alas, the novelty does not spoil potential buyers with either functionality or autonomy: it lacks autopilot functions, and the mileage on a single charge is a ridiculous 151 km. Why would Tesla ever want to make such a Model 3?

It’s all about the Canadian electric car subsidy system. Thus, the Canadian government encourages the purchase of electric cars at a price of no more than $ 45,000 (of course, local, not American).

However, the basic version of the Tesla Model 3 with normal autonomy is more expensive in Canada, so the company decided to introduce a special version with a price of 44,999 Canadian dollars, which is exactly the subject of subsidies.

Though, this was done not in the form of a manufacturer’s discount, but at the expense of cutting opportunities. So, in this version of the car, there is no autopilot, and the autonomy is programmatically limited to 151 kilometers (despite the fact that in the standard version the car has an autonomy of more than 400 km). Why exactly this mileage value was chosen is not clear, but it could be limited at least at the level of 220-250 kilometers, without going to extremes.

Not surprisingly, there is little demand for such a Model 3 in Canada: most people prefer to do without government subsidies, but also without daily charging.
