BOE ranks fifth in the dashboard display market with 10.5% market share: Omdia

On April 12, the research institute Omdia issued a report declaring that since the second quarter of 2020, Tianma has replaced Japan Display Inc. and has become the leader in the overall market and the dashboard display market, each accounting for 16.2% And 32.9% share.

Moreover, Japan Display dropped to second place, with a 15.0% share of the entire market. While AU Optronics ranks stable, ranking third with a 13.4% share, LG Display only got 11.7% of the share, and the BOE rose to fifth place with a 10.5% share.

According to the report, due to the different progress in the development of the epidemic and the reopening of the economy, the demand for automotive display screens by region has returned to different tunes.

However, China’s domestic panel demand rebounded rapidly. Compared with suppliers that export to the European/US markets, those suppliers that mainly ship to the Chinese market, namely Tianma, BOE, and IVO, have less impact.

Besides, Sharp Display’s severely dropped by 37.4% year-on-year, while LG Display’s shipments dropped by 26.6% year-on-year. Also, the shipments of AU Optronics and Innolux are relatively balanced in each region, and the level of decline is equivalent to the market average, which is-16.9% and-16.3%, respectively.
