GALAXY developing HOF series DDR5 DRAM chip tray
On April 12, GALAXY OC Lab’s Facebook account revealed a new DDR5 DRAM chip tray. The latest HOF DDR5 memory is expected to be released with Intel’s 12th-generation Core desktop processors at the end of this year or early next year.
Moreover, Intel’s 12th-generation Core Alder Lake will be designed with large and small cores, with the large core being Golden Cove and the small core being Gracemont. Also, the single-thread performance of the Golden Cove large core has increased by 20%.
With the addition of the small Grace Mont core and hardware-guided scheduling, the performance under multi-threaded workloads will be twice as high. Furthermore, Intel’s 12th-generation Core desktop processors support up to dual-channel DDR5-4800 memory, but only high-end Z690 motherboards will provide DDR5 support.
According to sources, AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 6000 series desktop processors will not provide DDR5 support. In other words, the full launch of DDR5 memory will have to wait for the next generation platforms of Intel and AMD.
