Apple iPhone 14 to feature 48MP camera and iPhone mini may be cancelled

TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his accurate predictions about Apple products, said that next year the iPhone 14 will receive a 48-megapixel 1 / 1.3-inch optical format image sensor.

The source adds that Apple can also use the technology of combining information from four neighboring pixels, which has long been used in cameras of smartphones running Android.

We believe that the camera of the new iPhone 14 will be able to support 48 and 12-megapixel modes at the same time. In 12MP mode, the pixel size is increased to about 2.5 microns, which is significantly larger than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, and also larger than existing Android phones. At 48 megapixels, the pixel size is 1.25 microns.”

For comparison, the iPhone 12 has 1.7μm pixels, while the iPhone 13’s sensor is rumored to be around 2μm in size. Kuo added that iPhone smartphones will soon be able to record 8K videos.
