Smartphone, tablet, and PC sales will reach 6.2 billion units in 2021: Gartner

According to reports, the number of laptops and tablets in use in 2021 is expected to increase by 125 million units over 2020. In 2022, the global installed capacity of equipment will reach 6.4 billion units, an increase of 3.2% over 2021.

However, the agency believes that the number of laptops and tablet computers will increase by 8.8% and 11.7% respectively in 2021, while the number of desktop computers is expected to drop from 522 million units in 2020 to 470 million units in 2022. Although the number of smartphones fell by 2.6% in 2020, it will increase by 1% in 2021.

Ranjit Atwal, senior research director of Gartner, said “The epidemic of the new crown has permanently changed the device usage patterns of employees and consumers. Family education has transformed into digital education, interactive games have turned to cloud computing, and people need, own, and use.
