State Grid, Tencent, Oppo grabbed the top three positions in the Artificial intelligence patent applications in China

On April 11, the 2020 China Artificial Intelligence Industry Annual Conference was held in Suzhou. The “China Artificial Intelligence Development Report 2020” released at the conference shows that China has ranked first in the world in the number of artificial intelligence patent applications in the past ten years.

Moreover, Artificial intelligence will focus on reinforcement learning, knowledge graphs, and intelligent robots in the next decade. The report shows that the number of global artificial intelligence patent applications in the past ten years has exceeded 520,000. The number of patent applications in China was 389,571, ranking first in the world, accounting for 74.7% of the global total.

Besides, China’s scientific research output level in more than 10 AI sub-fields such as natural language processing, chip technology, and machine learning is among the highest in the world; and in the fields of human-computer interaction, knowledge engineering, robotics, computer graphics, and computational theory, China still Need to work hard to catch up.

Furthermore, the top ten institutions in China for the number of artificial intelligence patent applications include 5 companies and 5 universities. They are State Grid, Tencent, OPPO, Baidu, Ping An Technology, Zhejiang University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, Beihang University, Tsinghua University, South China University of Technology.
