SEMI 2020 report shows, semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales will reach 71.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 19%
Recently, the International Semiconductor Industry Association released a report on the global semiconductor equipment market in 2020. The report shows that in 2020, the sales of semiconductor-making tools will be 71.2 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 19% from the 59.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2019.
Mainland China became the world’s largest market for semiconductor manufacturing equipment for the first time, with purchases reaching 18.72 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 39%.
In Taiwan, the purchase of semiconductor manufacturing equipment reached 17.15 billion U.S. dollars. Due to the presence of Samsung, SK Hynix, and other manufacturers in South Korea, the purchase of semiconductor manufacturing equipment was US$16.08 billion, an increase of 61%.
After 3 consecutive years of growth in North America, sales in the semiconductor equipment market in 2020 decreased by 20%. In the full year of 2020, sales of wafer processing equipment will increase by 19%, and other product categories will increase by 4%.
Equipment like chip packaging has seen significant sales growth in any region, reaching 34%; total sales of chip testing equipment have increased by 20%. Well-known equipment categories included in the SEMI report include wafer processing equipment.
Lithography devices, packaging and testing equipment, as well as masks, wafer cutting equipment, wafer manufacturing equipment, and other factory facilities.
