BMW and Great Wall Motors China joint venture will start production in 2023
BMW Jochen Goller, head of China operations said on Monday that the company plans to 2025, the share of electric cars in its Chinese market sales of about 4% from last year Increase to 25%.
As reported, Jochen Goller also stated that the construction of the joint venture plant with Great Wall Motors is ‘going smoothly’ and the main structure should be completed later this year.
Starting in 2023, two Mini electric vehicles will be produced for the Chinese and global markets. He also said that by 2023, BMW will sell 12 electric vehicles in the Chinese market.
Despite the increasing competition, Goller said he is still optimistic about the long-term prospects of the Chinese auto market. He said that as the wealthy middle class grows, China’s auto market will “continue to prosper.”
BMW previously stated that it is expected that by 2030, pure electric vehicles will account for half of its global sales.
