Rostec announced world’s first “airborne mine-laying” system for drones

Alexander Zakharov, the chief designer of ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of the “Kalashnikov” Group of Russian State Technology Corporation, announced that he has developed the world’s first “air mine-laying” system for drones.

Zakharov said that the “air-mining” system will use the “Lancet” suicide drone to intercept, and the drone can dive at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour, about twice that of a potential enemy drone. In addition, the “Lancet” drone can stay in the air for dozens of hours to achieve the “mine-laying” effect.

According to reports, the system is currently in the experimental stage. However, Rostec is a Russian state-owned group whose purpose is to promote the research and development, manufacturing, and export of high-tech industrial products for civilian and military use.

Besides, the group’s main holding companies form three clusters aviation clusters, electronic clusters, and armaments clusters. Its Russian helicopters rank first in the world’s armed helicopter sales.
