Samsung may announce an investment plan for the United States and South Korea’s Pyeongtaek next month, totaling approximately US$44.74 billion. Among them, the investment for the second plant in the United States is estimated at 17 billion U.S. dollars.
Moreover, the location may be one of Texas, Arizona, and New York. Austin, Texas is the most likely location to build the plant.
It was previously reported that Samsung’s plan to build a factory in the United States is expected to begin construction this year, with the installation of major equipment starting in 2022, and operation as early as 2023.
It is reported that as early as October last year, Samsung had applied to Travis County, Texas to purchase 258 acres of land next to the main factory area at the current site.
Besides, Samsung established an office in Austin in 1996 and then expanded its semiconductor factory twice. It is reported that Samsung has recently completed the introduction of foundry and NANDFlash production line equipment.
