Apple will soon release iOS 14.5, all apps must use AppTrackingTransparency framework

Apple states to developers that in the upcoming public releases of iOS 14.5, iPad OS 14.5, and Apple tvOS 14.5, all apps must use the AppTrackingTransparency framework to obtain user’s permission. Track it or visit the advertising identifier of its device.

Apple pointed out that unless the developer obtains the user’s permission to enable tracking, the device’s advertising identifier value will be all zero, and the user will not be allowed to be tracked.

When submitting an App for review, the developer must provide a statement for any other form of tracking in the “App Store Privacy Information” section of the product page.

Along with this, this Tracking will only be carried out with permission through AppTrackingTransparency.

In the App Store Audit Guidelines, developers also need to include a purpose string in the system prompt to explain why the App requires to track users. These requirements will be applied to all apps from April 26, 2021.

Apple reminded that the collection of device and usage data for the purpose of obtaining the user’s unique identification or fingerprint will still be regarded as a violation of the Apple Developer Program license agreement.
