Samsung recently announced the historical data of the recycling program on its official blog. Since the recycling program was launched in 2015, a total of 38,000 mobile phones have been officially recycled, which is only 0.0019% of Samsung’s 2 billion mobile phone sales.
However, officials said that a total of 11,000 mobile phones were recycled in 2019, an increase of 160% over 2015. This is good news for the start of the recycling program.
Moreover, some of the 2 billion mobile phones sold by Samsung are still in use, the others are used as second-hand phones in the market, some are recycled by other organizations, and the last part is abandoned and causes environmental pollution.
Officials said they hope that more mobile phones will be recycled in the future.
