Sony released second-generation Reon Pocket wearable air conditioner

Recently, Sony released a follow-up product to the wearable air conditioner Reon Pocket, which was released last year after Sony’s crowdfunding on the company’s own platform.

The appearance of the Reon Pocket 2 is roughly the same as the original product, but according to Sony, the newly designed internal structure can reach twice the heat absorption level, resulting in a more powerful cooling performance.

Sony also states that it has improved the sweat-proof function of the Reon Pocket 2 to make it more suitable for light exercise.

Compared with the first-generation product, the temperature cooling surface of Pocket 2 is upgraded to SUS316L stainless steel that replaces the silicon used in the first-generation product.

Allegedly, this provides greater cooling intensity and makes it easier to transfer low temperatures to the skin. A “silicone-coated sheet” is also provided, or for people who may have an allergic reaction.

The original Reon Pocket has three temperature levels, while the Pocket 2 has four. The first-generation products were mainly worn with special underwear to make summer commuting easier to bear, but this time Sony emphasized more uses, especially for golf.

The company has already collaborated with sportswear brands including Le Coq Sportif, Munsingwear, and Descente to produce a series of golf apparel that has pockets to put equipment in.

Sony also designed a neckband accessory so that the Reon Pocket can be used with ordinary clothes. First-generation product users must purchase a pile of underwear with pockets from Sony.

Sony stated that its new 4-level cooling system is very power-hungry, so it can only get about 3 hours of use, even if you plug it in. Additionally, Sony also said that it will automatically shut down after 1 hour of continuous use.

Moreover, users can get 20 hours at level 1, 15 hours at level 2, and 13 hours at level 3. Reon Pocket 2 was launched in Japan today, priced at 14,850 yen, and there is no news about listing in other places.
