How to transfer your Facebook photos, videos and notes to other sites
Facebook has allowed you to download all data as a ZIP file, and move photos and videos specifically to Google Photos, Dropbox, Backblaze, and Koofr.
From April, you can also transfer your posts and comments directly from the site to Google Docs, Blogger and WordPress.com. Facebook plans to let you transfer more data types to different partners in the future.
Facebook is expanding because Facebook and technology companies such as Amazon and Google are facing accusations from regulators and legislators who use monopoly power to illegally suppress competitors.
A lawsuit filed against Facebook last year pointed out that it is difficult for people to transfer their information to other platforms, a problem that prevents them from accessing social networks.
This is how to use Facebook’s “Transfer Your Information” tool to send your photos, videos, posts, and notes to other platforms. These instructions are basically the same whether you are accessing Facebook in a browser or in a mobile application.
How to transfer your Facebook photos, videos, posts, and notes:
- On Facebook on desktop, click the down arrow in the top right corner. Click Settings & Privacy > Settings > Your Facebook Information.
- Tap Transfer a Copy of Your Information and re-enter your Facebook password.
- Select what you’d like to transfer — photos, videos, posts, or notes.
- From the drop-down menu, choose which platform you want to transfer your information to.
- Log in to the service of your choice to move the information to, and select “Confirm Transfer”.
