Here are ways to use Microsoft Safety Scanner with Command prompt
The Microsoft Security Scanner (MSERT) is an independent tool on Windows 10 that can scan, find and delete many types of malware, including viruses, spyware, and unwanted software, which can cause harm to your computer without having to install it on the device.
It is similar to MSRT and similar to regular anti-malware software. But this is not a substitute for an antivirus solution, because it does not provide real-time protection or automatic updates.
It only provides another way to scan and clean the infection if you think the device is already infected. In addition, the Microsoft Safety Scanner is only valid for ten days. After the expiration date, you need to download the updated version to ensure that you scan the device with the latest security threat definitions and enhanced features.
This is a step-by-step process on how to use this tool to scan for infected files through the command prompt.
Step 1: Open a command prompt as an administrator on the computer. To do this, open “Start” and search for “Command Prompt.” In the search results, right-click the application and select “Run as administrator.”
Step 2: At the command prompt, enter the following command: cd C:\Users\username\Downloads
Step 3: Now, type the following command to start a forced scan and press Enter:msert /f
- Type the following command to do a full scan and automatically clean infected files:msert /f:y
- Type the following command to run the scan quietly: msert /q
- Type the following command to perform a full scan quietly: msert / f / q
After completing these steps, the tool will perform a scan on the computer to detect and remove any malicious software it may find.
