iOS 14.5 Tips: How to setup the new Face ID unlock feature?
Apple recently held its first event in 2021 and announced several shiny new products. Except for the new purple, the iPhone doesn’t have much performance time during the spring event, but that’s okay: With the release of iOS 14.5 on Monday, the iPhone has gained many new features, including new permissions for ad tracking, Siri, which can be worn on Use Face ID to unlock iPhone while wearing your voice and mask.
During the epidemic, using Face ID to unlock the iPhone is a desperate practice, and there are good reasons. Once the iPhone is unlocked and the screen indicator lights up, you will be asked to enter the PIN code immediately. This slows down the whole process and is annoying.
After installing iOS 14.5 (here is the download method), you will be able to unlock your iPhone immediately, so avoid entering the PIN code every time you visit or avoid removing the mask and re-entering it to it.
This is the place to grab (because there is always a place to grab): You need to use the Apple Watch to make it work. Apple borrowed the Apple Watch Unlock function from Mac users and brought it to the iPhone. Below, I will tell you how to set up the new Face ID unlock feature and show you how it works.
Where to find and turn on Unlock with Apple Watch
When your iPhone is running iOS 14.5 and WatchOS 7.4 is installed on your Apple Watch, you can use your Apple Watch to open the unlock function with just a few taps.
Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone, then select “Face ID” and “Password”, and enter the PIN code when asked. Next, scroll down until you find the section called “Unlock with Apple Watch”. Your Apple Watch name should be listed here. There is also a switch next to it to turn this function on or off. Swipe it to the “on” position and return from the “Settings” app.
How to use the new unlock feature
Looking to the future, as long as you cover your face, all you have to do is hold the phone, just like you would normally use Face ID to unlock. You will feel a tactile touch on your wrist, telling you that your watch was used to unlock your phone.
However, the alarm on the watch is more than just confirming that the phone is unlocked. It also contains a button to lock the phone when someone else unlocks it. There is a security feature to ensure that no one else is wearing a mask to pick up your phone and unlock it. Although this is unlikely to happen, it is a reassuring backup way to protect your data.
One of the many new features in iOS 14.5 has been unlocked by Apple Watch. Improvements include many hidden features, new privacy features, and the ability to create custom application icons.
