How to transfer movies from a computer to an Android?

Posted on

Most modern smartphones based on the Google Android operating system include a high-resolution camera that allows you to take pictures and record videos. After recording a video on an Android phone, watching the clip is as easy as tapping on the gallery screen.

However, with Android, you can not only watch videos shot on your phone, but you can also watch videos. You can also use the included USB cable to access the clips from your computer.

Methods:

  • If you haven’t done this, turn on your Android phone. Connect the mini plug of the data cable to the Android phone, and then connect the other end to an empty USB port on the computer. Wait a few seconds, Windows will detect the connection and initialize the memory card in the Android phone as a removable storage device.
  • Tap the notification window pull-down menu on the Android screen (also known as the “Window Shade”) and then tap “USB Connected” or “USB Connection” depending on which version of the Android operating system you use.
  • Tap the “Turn on USB Storage” or similar button. Depending on the manufacturer of your phone and the version of Android that it uses, the correct option may display as “Turn on USB Storage,” “Mount,” “USB Mass Storage” or “Disk Drive.” After you tap the storage option button, return to the computer.
  • Press “Windows-E” to start the file explorer. Click “File” on the ribbon bar, and then click “Open New Window”. Two file browser windows are now active on the screen. Move and resize the windows so that they are on the screen together.
  • In the navigation pane of the File Explorer window on the left side of the screen, click the “Video” link. In the “File Explorer” window on the right, double-click the drive letter assigned to the Android phone memory card. Double-click the “Movies” or “Videos” folder in the Android folder window.
  • In the file browser window on the left, highlight the video file you want to transfer to your Android phone, and press “Ctrl-C” to copy it to the Windows clipboard. If you want to transfer the video to your phone and don’t want to save the copy to the computer, after highlighting the clip in the “Video” folder of your computer, press “Ctrl-X” instead of “Ctrl-C”.
  • Click in the “Video” or “Movies” folder pane of the “File Explorer” window on the right, and press “Ctrl-V”. Windows copies the selected video from the computer to the “Movies” or “Videos” folder on the Android memory card.
  • Copy and paste other videos from the computer to the Android memory card as needed.
  • On an Android phone, click the notification window drop-down menu, and then click “Turn off the USB storage device”, “Close” or “Discount”. Disconnect the USB cable from the phone and computer.
