Those blue tick marks in WhatsApp can cause you trouble all over the world, especially when you don’t reply immediately and someone sees that you have read their message.
You can turn them off, but it’s worth noting that if you turn them off, you won’t even receive a read receipt for the message.
Apple users:
- If you let Siri read the message, the blue checkmark will not appear, so this is a good way to read the message without the sender’s knowledge.
Android users:
- If you read the message in the notification, the sender will not receive a blue tick.
Steps to hide blue ticks in WhatsApp
iOS: Settings > Account > Privacy > Toggle off Read Receipts.
Android: Settings > Account > Privacy > Untick Read Receipts.
