How to play videos with AC3 audio in MX Player in Android?
MX Player is most people’s personal favorite Android player, we know it only because it can play all the content you throw at it, and all the controls are intuitively placed where you need it.
Well, the former may not be entirely correct. For most of last year, MX Player has not supported DTS and Dolby Audio codec [license issue], which means you cannot play DTS/DTSHD/AC3/EAC3/MLP audio.
How to Play Videos With AC3 Audio in MX Player
- Toggle to HW decoder, It is possible that your smartphone hardware decoder support AC3 audio and other forbidden codes.
- Navigate to Settings >> Decoder>> scroll down to Custom Codec. Here you will find the type of codec supported for your device. [It is ARMv7 Neon type on all devices that I have tested]. If you are confused you can also download the AIO pack.
- Go to the following XDA page and download the codec you need (ZIP File).
- Now place that Codec ZIP File as it is anywhere on your phone.
- Tap on the custom codec option you reached in Step 2 and navigate to the Codec file and tap on it.
- That is it, your player will now restart and AC3 audio will be supported.
