Although it’s convenient to be able to charge a phone and use it with Android Auto at the same time, it’s not something everyone wants to do all the time.
In the past, only Pixel devices could be used wirelessly with Android Auto, but with the release of Android 11, Google changed its attitude.
Use Android Auto wirelessly
Now, if your smartphone has Android 11, it can use Android Auto without any wires.
- Connect your phone to your car radio with a USB cable.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the initial setup procedure.
- Disconnect the USB cable.
- The next time you get in your car, Android Auto wireless automatically connects your phone to your car.
The only problem here is that the host in your car must support wireless Android Auto.
This can be a bit frustrating, especially if you change the head unit, but at least your next car audio should support it.
