Apple has announced iOS 15, the 2021 edition of the iPhone operating system iOS. The company announced iOS 15 at its developers conference-WWDC2021 held virtually.
Moreover, the new iOS features will be available as a free software update for iPhone 6s and later models post the launch of the iPhone 13 series. Furthermore, there are some new changes that also will come to see in the Photos app.
Ability to search text in photos
- The Photos app now includes a new OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature that can read text. Called Live Text, it uses AI to detect text images automatically as per Apple.
- For example, users can search for and locate the picture of a handwritten family recipe, or capture a phone number from a storefront with the option to place a call. With the power of the Apple Neural Engine, the Camera app can also quickly recognize and copy the text in the moment, such as the Wi-Fi password displayed at a local.
- Spotlight now uses intelligence to search photos by location, people, scenes, or objects. Using Live Text, Spotlight can find text and handwriting in photos. It now offers web image search and results for contacts show recent conversations, shared photos, and even their location if shared through Find My.
