Here’s how to send disappearing messages in Signal on Android

Posted on

Don’t want the messages you send via Signal to remain on someone’s phone? You can use the disappearing message function to automatically delete all messages in the chat after a set time. This is how to send disappearing messages in Signal.

The disappearing message function works on a per-chat basis. This applies to face-to-face chats and groups. You can choose a time range of one second and one week (this is something you cannot do on WhatsApp.) The app displays a visual timer next to the disappearing message.

Moreover, Signal does have a special feature for sending self-destructive photos and videos. They can’t be saved, and disappear after they have been viewed once (like Snapchat).

Enable and Use Disappearing Messages on Signal in Android

  • In an Android smartphone, open the conversation that you want to enable the disappearing messages to feature for, then tap the three-dot menu icon from the top toolbar.
  • Here, select the “Disappearing Messages” feature.
  • Select the time frame and tap the “Done” button.
