Did you know that you can stop any application downloads or updates on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch? This is useful when you are in a bandwidth-bound or short reception time and want to pause the application download so that you can resume it later.
If you want to prioritize any other application downloads or updates from the App Store, this technique of pausing application downloads is also helpful, because you can block multiple application updates, and then prioritize applications that are not paused.
Steps:
- When an active download or app update is occurring, locate the app that is being modified.
- Pause the download/update by just tapping on the app icon while the download is going.
- You’ll know the download is paused because the name will change to ‘Paused’ (see screenshot).
- Tap the icon again to resume the download or update.
