Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 power consumption is better than Snapdragon 888: Qualcomm

Qualcomm today officially released the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chip, which will be carried in the next-generation flagship mobile phones of many manufacturers.

According to official data, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses Samsung’s 4nm process, CPU performance is increased by 20%, power consumption is reduced by 30%; GPU performance is increased by 30%, power consumption is reduced by 25%, and it is equipped with a new X65 baseband.

Moreover, Qualcomm revealed more details about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the Q&A session after the press conference. Qualcomm confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses Samsung’s 4nm process and stated that it could support LPDDR5x memory, but according to market considerations, there is no such memory product.

Qualcomm admits that the official performance and power consumption data of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 cannot be achieved at the same time. The “20% increase in CPU performance” and “30% reduction in power consumption” were achieved under certain conditions.

In addition, Qualcomm said that the power consumption of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is better than that of Snapdragon 888. Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is equipped with a new Cortex-X2 super core, clocked at 3.0GHz, which is similar to the X1 super core of the Snapdragon 888 Plus; three Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.5GHz; four Cortex-A510 small core clocked at 1.8GHz. The processor first uses the Armv9 instruction set.
