Apple pushed the macOS 12.1 developer preview Beta4 update (build number: 21C5045a) to Mac users. Although the highly anticipated general control function has not yet been enabled, this version seems to be resolved some problems with the touchpad.
According to the latest report, since the release of macOS Monterey earlier this year, some users have reported that “tap to click” touchpad gestures will intermittently fail to work.
The problem seems to affect various Macs, from the M1 MacBook Air with a built-in trackpad to the Intel-based iMac with a separate Magic Trackpad.

After the release of the macOS 12.1 developer preview Beta4 today, some users on Reddit said that they no longer encounter the “tap to click” problem.
Moreover, “tap to tap” can be enabled in Trackpad> Cursor and Tap under System Preferences, allowing users to tap with one finger to tap. The official version of macOS 12.1 is expected to be released before the end of the year.
Furthermore, one of the important new features is SharePlay (simulcast sharing), which allows users to watch movies and TV shows, listen to music, and share screens with friends and family through FaceTime calls. SharePlay is already available on iOS 15.1, iPad OS 15.1, and tvOS 15.1.
