SEMI (International Semiconductor Industry Association) released the latest report today, stating that global semiconductor manufacturing equipment shipments continued to rise in the third quarter of 2021, with a year-on-year increase of 38% and a month-on-month increase of 8% to 26.8 billion.
Moreover, the US dollar has set a record high for five consecutive quarters. While the report shows that China’s semiconductor equipment sales reached US$7.27 billion, a year-on-year increase of 29% and a month-on-month decline of 12%.

Furthermore, South Korea’s semiconductor equipment sales were US$5.58 billion, North America was US$2.29 billion, and Japan was US$2.11 billion.
SEMI President and CEO Ajit Manocha said “Strong long-term demand for chips in a wide range of markets including communications, computing, healthcare, online services, and automobiles has driven record quarterly growth in semiconductor equipment.
In the face of disruptive global challenges including chip shortages and ongoing epidemics, the semiconductor industry has shown great resilience”.
